Web Master

1. Description

The webmaster provides the on-line presence for the Club, including web site and forum, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.

 

2. Responsability

  • Use the internet to promote the Club and what it does.
  • Use the internet to allow members to stay in contact with the club and fellow members.
  • Ensure the pages load quickly and are free from errors.
  • Mediate the Forum, Facebook and Twitter pages.
  • Provide an historical reference for the Club.

 

3. Knowledge and Skills

  • Editing of web pages using Dreamweaver
  • Image creation and manipulation for the internet.
  • Build or assist in the development of a website.
  • Manage websites and perform continual maintenance; this can includes links, database, and other functions.
  • Web programming (knowledge of HTML, CSS, HTTP) (Javascript or PHP an advantage).
  • Marketing of websites on various platforms including other sites and search engines; determine ad structures, pricing, placement, etc.
  • Site promotion, sending out email, voicemail, newsletters, etc.

 

4. Duties

  • Maintain and revise existing pages and create new pages as required.
  • Maintain a consistent method of navigation across the site.
  • Monitor site performance via Google Analytics and report to Executive Committee.
  • Assist Newsletter Editor with sending out newsletter via Mailing lists
  • Manage the DLRA forum, mediate discussions and monitor users. Remove spammers.
  • Manage the domain name and hosting of the web site.

 

Note: The difference between an executive committee member’s role and other roles
A executive committee member role is a strategic position within the club and consequently, a executive committee member is responsible for governing the club. A executive committee member’s role should not be confused with the management and operational roles of an organisation (like a Race Director, Inspector, Timer or Starter). The day-to-day work of the organisation is managed and completed by these volunteers with the club. Unless you also hold an execution (operational) role, it is not your responsibility to perform or be involved in the day-to-day running of the club.
