Portable Toilets Cleaning

1. Description

Cleaning of portable toilets at various location around the event area.

The club has 16 portable toilets of varying age, currently 4 are on trailers and 12 are not. These portable toilets are strategically placed at various locations (see below) around the event area to service the officials, entrants and general public.
They are all unisex except for one at Registration which is a FEMALE ONLY toilet.

1.1 Location

2 portable toilets at Start Line (no trailer),

2 portable toilets(1 womens toilet) at Registration (no trailer),

2 portable toilets at Mt. Ive Camp,

1 portable toilet at the Timers Van

1 portable toilet at Pre-Stage (no trailer),

1 portable toilet at Canteen,

Remainder are spaced out along the pits about in the middle from front to back. One to be placed close to Spectator Area.

 

2. Responsibility

It is the volunteers job to clean and disinfect the portable toilets only. They do not have to empty, refill or relocate the toilets.

 

3. Duties

  • Cleaning and disinfecting of the portable toilets can be done at any time, but they should be checked at least twice during each shift.
  • The frequency with which the portable toilets may require additional cleaning will vary with the amount of people at the event and where the toilet is located.
  • Sunday through to the Wednesday will be the peak period of use.
  • The toilets are scheduled to be cleaned twice a day.
  • If they need emptying or are damaged, please contact the registration van.

 

3.1 Volunteer Instructions

Any volunteers, on the day of your duty, you report direct to your post.

Make sure you sign the toilet cleaning sheet inside each toilet.

The morning shift is from 8.00am to about 12.00 noon.

The afternoon shift starts at about 1.00pm till 6.00pm or close of business on that day.

You must be ready to start your shift at these times.

Make sure you have a hat, sunglasses, sun cream, snacks. Water is provided from the esky at the Registration Van and there are portable toilets through out the pits.

3. Tasks

3.1 Set Up

At the camp

  • Check, disinfect, and clean (remove dust) and commission all portable toilets in camp.
  • Check tyre pressures & pump up as required.
  • Test the hand water pump.
  • Any portable toilets that do not work or are damaged, put aside for repair and notify the Camp Coordinator.
    DO NOT fill portable toilets with water until they are on the lake.
  • Transport toilets to the lake.

At the lake

  • Place toilets in the following positions: 1 x Start Line, 1 x Timing Van, 2 x Registration (1 x Female), 1 x Pre-Stage, 1 x Canteen, 2 x Mt. Ive camping Area, 8 x around the pits.
  • Once portable toilets are located fill with fill with toilet paper and soap or hand sanitiser..

    3.2 During the event (each shift)

    • Clean the inside of each portable toilet
    • Disinfect touch areas, handles, knobs, counter tops.
    • Replace toilet paper, remove old toilet rolls.
    • Replenish soap or hand sanitizer.
    • Check waste levels in portable toilets, request emptying as necessary
    • Use club tray truck to carry 2 x 1000 Lt water containers (IBC) and water pump for filling toilets on the lake.
    • Refill 1000 lt IBC's from tank at camp.

     

    3.3 Pack Up

    • Empty the toilet and mark it as out of use
    • Clean the inside of each portable toilet
    • Remove any toilet paper, rolls soap and / or sanitiser bottles, or other waste materials.
    • Drain water tank.
    • As each portable toilet is decommissioned, lock the door and tape it shut.
    • Return toilet to camp

     

    4. Equipment

    Toilet paper is stored in the Men's Ablution Block at the DLRA camp.

    Cleaning chemicals, brushes and gloves are stored in the Men's Ablution Block at the DLRA camp.

    Soap and hand sanitiser stored with Camp Coordinator at the DLRA camp.
