Timing Slips

1. Description

As an entrant makes their run, their speed is announced over the public radi channel, but they are also able to obtain a timing slip that contains a lot more information about their run. These timing slips are available from Race Control on request.
There is 2 large screen monitors also set up in this area showing the start line queues, weather conditions and a fixed camera view of the start lines.

2. Responsability

This person is responsible for printing timing slips for entrants as required.

 

3. Duties

 

3.1 Volunteer Instructions

On the day of your duty, you report direct to Race Control.

Make sure you sign the Volunteers Book next to your name.

The morning session is from 7.30am to about 12.00 noon, (pick up your DLRA UHF radio from the Registration Caravan).

The afternoon session starts at about 1.00pm till 6.00pm or close of business on that day. (Return the DLRA UHF radio to the Registration Caravan).

You must be ready to start your shift at these times.

Make sure you have a hat, sunglasses, sun cream, snacks. Water is provided from the esky at the pre-stage and there are portable toilets through out the pits.

4. Tasks

4.1 Set Up

  • A shade structure will be errected by a team located between the Race Control Bus and the Registration Van
  • The computer, printer and telephone will be set up by the Timing team.
  • The monitors will be set up by the Timing team (they are stored in the Hadfield's container back at the DLRA Camp)
  • The UHF radio and power supply is to be retrieved from Registration.

 

4.2 During the event

As entrants present requesting their timing slips, the Timing Slips Officer will search the Timing database and print timing slips.

 

4.3 Pack Up

  • The shade structure will be dismantled by a team.
  • The computer, printer and telephone will be packed up by the Timing team.
  • The monitors will be packed up by the Timing team. (they are to be returned to the Hadfield's container back at the DLRA Camp)
  • The UHF radio and power supply is to be returned to Registration.

Note: The difference between an executive committee member’s role and other roles
A executive committee member role is a strategic position within the club and consequently, a executive committee member is responsible for governing the club. A executive committee member’s role should not be confused with the management and operational roles of an organisation (like a Race Director, Inspector, Timer or Starter). The day-to-day work of the organisation is managed and completed by these volunteers with the club. Unless you also hold an execution (operational) role, it is not your responsibility to perform or be involved in the day-to-day running of the club.
