CLERK OF COURSE

  The course controller and assistant will work in the tower during racing and will not leave when his/her track is hot without arranging a temporary replacement.  The course controller reports to the Race Director. The course control assistants report to their track controller.
    The Race Director also holds these responsibilities if he/she controls a track as part of the RD duties
  a.

Conduct the morning track station radio check.  Insure all positions on the track and staging lanes are staffed.
Conduct a visual inspection of the track (s) prior to racing operations

  b. Maintain the daily paper run log of all bikes and times on track
  c. Monitor the scoring computer
  d. Enter bike numbers and speeds into the scoring computer
  e. File run speeds and vehicle numbers in the daily paper run log
  f. Provide announcer with bike speed and number if required
  g. Assist in course operation to provide a second set of eyes on course to prevent non standard conditions (2 vehicles on course, etc. )
  h. Operate the track racing operation should the course director be out of the tower
  i. When the course director is out of the tower the assistant is in charge of the track with the assistance of aa qualified staff member so there will always be 2 people running the track
  j. Manage any on track incident when in charge of a track.  Details are noted in the incident management section of the SOP.
