SECURITY STAFF

1.   Security Director and staff are responsible for;
  a. The safe operation and conduct of the pits area.
  b. Traffic flow from the entry ramp to the pits.
  c. Traffic security on the course return roads.
  d. Safe operation of race / team vehicles from the pits to the staging lines.
  e. Traffic and safety in the salt area adjacent to the pits.
  f. Pit security at night.
  g. Ramp Entrance security.
  h. Assisting the event and Race Director as required.
  i. Security Director reports to the Race Director.
2.   Security personnel should be identified with a special cap or shirt and the Security Director at least have radio communication with the Race Director.
3.   The decision to require a entrant, crew or spectator to leave the event premises will be made by the Race Director and Clerk of Course jointly. If Security personnel are unable to peacefully escort the ejected people to the end of the road then the Port Augusta Police will be called to assist with approval of the Race Director or Clerk of Course.

Security Director is responsible for having the pits empty by the time assigned to the event by the permit.

5.   Security personnel should maintain a friendly and professional manner.  Keeping everyone where they should be is a difficult task but if we do it politely and with a smile our participants will have a great experience at DLRA events.
6.   Ramp entry gate staff assigned to traffic management and security will report to the Security Director.
Gate staff will:
  a. Ensure all staff, entrants, crew and spectators have signed the release form prior to entry onto the salt.
  b. Ensure all crew vehicles have the proper window / registration sticker in place.
  c. Ensure all passengers in crew vehicles have Lake Entry wrist bands.
  d. Ensure all spectators have Lake Entry wrist bands prior to entry.  Brief all spectators, especially vehicle drivers , on the on salt vehicle operating procedures, etiquette,speed limits, navigation and prohibited areas before allowing entry on to the salt.
7.   Pit security staff;
  a. report to the Security Director.
  b. Provide on physical presence of security in the pit area with awake personnel out of competition hours
  c. Recommended that sweeps through the pit area be conducted several times per night.  A security light or two shining all night is also recommended.
