INTRODUCTORY MODULE
Purpose of the DLRA and Structure Unit
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Dry Lakes Racers Australia Inc. is;
- To conduct the annual Speed Week at Lake Gairdner in South Australia.
- To regulate land Speed Racing in a professional, streamlined and customer-focused manner.
- To ensure that land speed racing is conducted in accordance with the highest standards of safety, fairness and and social responsibility.
- To be the peak body for Land Speed Racing in Australia.
STRUCTURE
The DLRA structure is based on a number of committees. There is no board.
- Executive Committee - consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Media Manager.
Executive committee members meet monthly at the internal committee meeting, quarterly for a general meeting and annually for the AGM. All executive positions are thrown open at the Annual General Meeting and nominations (and seconders) are put forward for each position. - General Committee - consists of Camp Coordinator, South Australian Liaison Officer, Department of Environment and Water Liaison Officer, GRAC Liaison Officer, Rule Book Coordinator, Record Certification Officer, Entry Number Coordinator, Merchandise Manager and Web Master.
General committee members meet monthly at the internal committee meeting, quarterly for a general meeting and annually for the AGM. These positions are thrown open at the AGM and are self nominating ordinary members. - Event Committee - Race Director, Clerk of Course, Timer, Starter, Technical Chairman, Chief Car Inspector, Chief Motorcycle Inspector, Chief of Fire Rescue, Medical Team Leader, Event Coordinator.
Event committee members meet monthly at the internal committee meeting, quarterly for a general meeting and annually for the AGM. These positions are thrown open at the AGM and are self nominating ordinary members. - State Delegates - provide a local point of contact for members in each State.
It is optional for State delegate members to meet monthly at the internal committee meeting, quarterly for a general meeting and annually for the AGM. These positions are thrown open at the AGM and are self nominating ordinary members. - Category Representatives - these are self nominated positions. Appointees will be considered to have expert knowledge in their category. Their purpose is to provide information to Inspectors and interpretation of the rules as it relates to their category.
It is optional for Category Representative members to meet monthly at the internal committee meeting, quarterly for a general meeting and annually for the AGM. These positions are thrown open at the AGM and are self nominating ordinary members.
