Duties of General Officials Unit

 

All General Officials need to be aware of what other General Officals duties include, this unit details what these other General Officals are doing during Speed Week. A General Official does not have to know how to do another General Officials duties just what they are. Hopefully this will reduce any confusion and duplication of effort.

 

  • Start line Assistants, can perform final safey checks of vehicles before they are put in the control of the starter, organise and prioritize the queue of vehicles at the start line..
  • Timing Assistants, can be involved with timing gear set up and pack up, testing of timing equipment, operation of the timing system. Input vehicle information into thetiming system.
  • Inspection Assistants, may perform one component of vehicle inspection for example checking dates and tags on helmets, suits, gloves etc. Organise the queue of vehicles waiting to be inspected. Actual vehicle inspection will be done by one or more accredited inspectors
  • Communication Assistants, involves distribution of club radios at the start of each day and ensuring that all club radios are returned at the end of each day for recharging.
  • Vehicle Recovery Assistants, under instruction of the Race Director, attend to any disabled vehicles on the tracks and remove them as quickly as they can.
  • General track Assistants, check track for debris, check all track signs and cones after each session, other duties as required.
  • Spectator marshals, guide spectators out of prohibited areas at Technical Inspection and Start Lines.
  • Observers, will be watching entrants vehicles as they proceed down the track and will make an alert if there is an incident.
  • Equipment supply and maintenance,

  • Environmental officer,
